I have seen many sites mixing links with text that may have a very general nature to avoid Google bots from detecting such link pages. This is a possible way out.
As for the 3 way link exchange - let's be more optimistic - it's a good way to promote a site: It's more effecient than regular reciprocal links and there are more sites offering organization of 3 way link exchange: they have a section for donar sites and recipient sites. I think they will be very popular soon.

kirtan there is no such thing as a silly question, there are only silly answers!

What you describe is called three way linking. Your secondary site links to X and X links to your primary site. Some Black Hats will have hundreds of secondary sites all linking out in exchange for a link back to their primary site. These sites will be registered in different names and hosted on different servers so that a there is no apparent relationship in the whois data.

For White Hats it's a waste of time trying to manipulate the search results with deceptive link schemes.

duz,
i have another, may be silly, question. If i place all reciprocal link pages in a different domain, then will it be useful as my main domain only have inbound links?
Many Thanks

I don't think reciprocal links do any harm but the old practise of putting up a page or pages on your site just for reciprocal links is now of little or no value. Find directories that don't require a reciprocal link and restrict your outbound links to those which will be of use to your visitors.

duz,
Your blog and answers to site owners questions are very useful and greatly appreciated. I have an another question. If i provided reciprocal links to the directories listed in http://info.vilesilencer.com/forum/, then will it be hurtful or useful in link building?
Many Thanks
